Recently Google has taken a step forward as now their Google Assistant can be installed on the devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop which is outdated now. When it comes to Tablets Google Assistant will be available to the tabs running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or above.

The Google Assistant is currently in rollout process, the users who have opted for the English language are getting this update in the U.S, U.K, India, Australia, Canada, and Singapore region.
