Huawei P20 Plus to pack 4,000mAh battery and support Always on ... - BGR India

Huawei, which was expected to launch its next flagship smartphones at MWC 2018, has decided to have a muted appearance instead. The Chinese smartphone maker will announce its flagship P20 series at an event in Paris on March 27.

According to leaks, the smartphones in the P20 series will be Huawei P20, P20 Plus and P20 Lite and are said to be codenamed Emily, Charlotte and Anne respectively. Huawei reportedly dropped its MWC launch plans in order to ensure that its products are not overshadowed by the Samsung Galaxy S9 launch. In the past few weeks, we have seen a ton of leaked information detailing the P20 series and its triple camera system and now we have even more details.

According to a new leak, the Huawei P20 Plus will pack a beefy 4,000mAh battery and support an always-on display feature. These details were unearthed by FunkyHuawei.club service by digging into the firmware files of upcoming Huawei smartphones. It notes that Huawei P20 Plus’ product partition includes APK for Always on Display, which will be preinstalled and be available on the device.

Huawi Mate 10 Pro is the only smartphone from the third-largest smartphone maker to support Always on Display feature since it uses an OLED display. The inclusion of Always on Display APK means that P20 series might also use an OLED display like its Mate 10 sibling. The APK also reveals that regular P20 will feature a 3,320mAh battery as opposed to 4,000mAh battery on the P20 Plus.

The Huawei P20 series is said to feature an iPhone X-style notch with support for its own Point Cloud Depth camera system. The feature will enable a similar to Apple’s Animoji and also facial recognition system. It will run EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, but specific features have not been revealed yet. Both the P20 and P20 Plus will be powered by Kirin 970 chipset, same as the one found on Mate 10 series and the Honor View10.

The highlight will definitely be its triple camera system with one color sensor, one monochrome sensor and another sensor expected to support depth mapping and 2x optical zoom. The cameras are also expected to be tweaked for better low-light imaging and support AI features.

Huawei has grown significantly in its home market and other markets like India with the help of its Honor brand. With the launch of P20 series, Huawei will be hoping to establish itself in the premium smartphone segment where Apple and Samsung are the two indisputable leaders.
